We had a fantastic first day. It makes me feel so good about our coming school year.
Our group lessons went really well today which also has me feeling pretty encouraged. I didn’t teach that way last year, so this was a little intimidating for me. But, what a difference it made in our day to have Pumpkin (and Cutie Pie) included.
For the first day I scaled back our lesson plans, but here is a summary of our day:
Bible Devotions in Pumpkin’s Room.
The children colored pictures while I read from the Bible and we discussed the lessons out of Our 24 Ways and Big Truths for Little Kids. Then they received their bible verse for the week that they are to memorize.
Memorization verse is: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment”
Matthew 22: 37-38
Went downstairs and practiced some of the Spanish words and phrases we learned.
Helped set the table for lunch
Pumpkin planted Teddy Bear Sunflower seeds and is learning about plant life cycles….and patience!
G-Man and Bear are working on Scientific Processes—beginning with Observation. They are observing a Resurrection Plant and working on a Science Notebook.
Watched the Olympics and played Olympic Dominoes
Boys check on science project
Free play and block time
Played with Lucky
Played Bean Bag Toss game
Watched TV while Mom worked on dinner
Get everyone ready for Bed
Talk about our day & review Bible memory verse
Say prayers together
My only regrets are that I didn’t get any pictures with the kids or of the kids on our first day of school. Even though I had them dressed so cute this morning! Oh well, tomorrow is another day and another opportunity.
